April 17, 2012

Today we visited a place called Monkey Bizness.  It is an indoor play area for children. It had a bounce house, a dress up area with a tree club house thing, a climbing zone with all kinds of obbsticals, an arts room, and a place for babies maybe 4 months and up.

Dawson's favorite was the bounce house. At first he was so scared but eventually he began to jump. Phillip loved trying to climb the sliding part of the bounce house. He would get half way up and begin to slide back down. They both really liked climbing, going in and out of rooms, and getting dressed up. Phillip dressed in a giraffe costume and Dawson dressed up in a Lion costume with the help of thier daddy. Phillip even went back to the mirror area when he didn't have the costume on.

Andy and I decided last night we wouldn't lounge around on the couch all day watching tv (mostly Team Umizoomi and Thomas The Train).   It's hard to really get motivated to get up and play when we are so tired from working these crazy hours. I work two grave days and three evening shifts while Andy works evenings. There are days when Andy gets off of work at 6am and must get up at 8:30am or 9am when the boys wake up. It is not an ideal schedule but it does allow us to see our children most hours of the day.

Things are getting normalized more and more.

Funny stuff keeps happening!

Today I was carrying Dawson to the changing station and he sneezed a couple of times, then after I was done changing him he looked at me real funny and puzzeled. I said "what is it Dawson?" He picked a booger off my neck and handed it to me.

Dawsons new favorite hobby to scoop cat liter with his new shovel this is a pic of the cat liter in the toy train!

Two years old and so much more...

I couldn't possibly fill everyone in on all the details of our family from my last post...so I will start from now.

For Easter weekend we rode the Midway rail road egg hunt train. It was awesome. Grandma Phyllis Sajben came along. On the train we saw the Easter Bunny, went on an egg hunt, and we all had a wonderful time. On Easter Sunday Grandma Sajben hosted dinner at her new residence "the cottages" it was an incredible time.

The boys are growing so fast and so much. Phillip has taken up a few phrases lately; "Dadda is the best", "nooooo way", "I see the train." Dawson loves sharing with Phillip and if he takes something he will get one for Phillip, he likes to say things like "watch Umizumi?", "no Claire", "snacks?", "come on Phillip." They both say I love you and are so sweet.

More to come......

May 2011 Family Trip

Family trip to San Deigo was awesome. We drove to San Deigo and met up with my great aunt Nancy Sajben MD, who was very hospitable and made us dinner and some wonderful cappicino! It was so nice meeting with her and she met us a couple of other times for dinner during our stay.

After our visit with Nancy Sajben we headed over to our hotel checked in and got ready for a dinner cruise. They served prime rib, and even had a dj. The boys did really well in the begging but the last hour and a half they wanted to explore the boat and were squirming like crazy. Andy walked around with Philiip, until he ended up falling asleep. Dawson took the dance floor a couple of times and was very intrigued with the dj. It was a challenge but we made it and the boys got to experience being on a moving boat.

On first day in San Diego we went to the Maritime Museum which is a bunch of ships and submarines. The boy's loved it, but it was hard carrying them in and out and up and down the ship stairs but it all worked out. Then we went to Old Twon, and ate at the Old Town Mexican Resturante where they make hand made tortillas. We also visited the Whaley House

Birthdays, Holidays, many days come and gone....

Dawson and Phillip have grown so much since my last blog! Phillip started walking on Nov. 8, 2010 and Dawson followed on Nov. 13, 2010! I can remember being so happy for them to walk and also so scared all at the same time. The falling on thier butts didn't bother me as much as the falling on thier heads or even on a hard plastic toys that cover thier play area.
On Dec. 19th 2010 Gama Sajben, Andy, phillip, Dawson and I set out on our road trip to Mankato, MN and later to Kansas City, MO. Andy and I were worried about the boys but I have to say they did amazing. They slept most of the time and the only fussy times were usually quited with a video or an interactive toy. We had a wonderful road trip. We stopped at resturaunts and let the boys walk around and bang on booths. They ate mostly baby food and they loved the arrowroot gerber brand cookies. We only had one incident where i had to change my shirt in a restroom due to being surprised with what we call a blaster (a blaster is a poopie that is exploding out of the diaper and usually on you).
Dec. 21, 2010 -We first drove into mankato and went straight to Grandma and Grandpa Biehn's. It was wonderful watching the boys make thier way around thier grandparents house picking up anything they could find and sneaking it into thier mouths. Max, a sweet little dog, shared his food a couple of times with the boys. I wasn't expecting people to be so kind about the boys picking up breakables, taking books off the book shelfs, and pulling on the electronics, but everyone was quick to say "they can't hurt anything," or "it's only stuff."
Dec. 22, 2010 FIRST BIRTHDAY- The second day went by so quickly! It was Dawson and Phillip's 1st birthday! We went over to the Biehn Headquaters and had a wonderful lunch. It was brisket with pickles and home made potatoe salad. Grandma Biehn had some ice cream waiting for the boys. She fed Dawson and I fed Phillip and they gobbled that ice cream up! She kept telling them they can have as much as they want on their birthdays! After that we went out and bought some balloons all of the rest of the party stuff was taken care of by Grandma and Grandpa Biehn. Th cake was a huge whinnie the pooh themed chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Dawn was very adiment about the cake needing to be chocolate chocolate! We had the party at the boy's great grandmother Dorothy Casset's house. Almost all of the family was there. It was so heart warming everyone came out to celebrate! The boys didn't get into ripping the paper much. They loved chasing the balloons and ...CAKE TIME!! It was very endearing to watch the family together and to be with them all, at our children's 1st birthday party!
Dec. 23, 2010 -The day after the party we took the boys sledding at Spring Lake Park! Tammy and Chris came with us, and they where so sweet and understanding, becuase we were only there for about 30 minutes. There was 3 to 4 feet of snow on the ground on this day. I never went sledding in so much snow before! Phillip and I got stuck in the snow a little bit and it was a little tricky crawling out of snow (up to my knees) with out using my hands. Phillip didn't really like it much. He was nonchulant about all the new environment, he was focused on holding onto mommy! Daddy and Dawson went down a small hill, mommy and Phillip followed a little after. It was awesome to sled down a hill with our babies!
Dec. 24, 2010 CHRISTMAS EVE - The Biehn family tradition of eating cheeseburgers, and french fries, is a cherishable moment I can't wait to relive next year! The Boys sat in high chairs that Grandma and Grandpa Biehn tracked down for us to use while we where there. Dawson and Phillip where wonderful little gentelmen! ...................

8 months old, two teeth, and standing up.....

The boys are 8 months and three weeks old. Andrew has been getting up in the morning around 6:30 or 7am, when the boys wake up. Phillip is our talker. He is making noises that sound like mama, dada, and hi, and well many others. Dawson makes little noises and usually not for very long. They are doing all kinds of things like eating from a spoon, standing up, waving, and clapping their hands. It seems everyday is really very different from the last.
Dawson is very strong and sometimes very hard to hold on to. He is our little bruiser. He likes to clap his hands, jump up and down, and is almost always standing up in the "baby jail". He is great at crawling and standing and loves to explore around the house. He is very good at eating from a spoon but it is getting easier. He doesn't nap for very long at a time, but when he does he loves to snuggle.

Phillip is our little sweet heart. He doesn't stand up very much but he is trying more and more. He loves to laugh with you and smiles all the time. He eats very well from a spoon and gama has him drinking from a straw. Phillip sleeps for long periods of time when he naps and also loves to snuggle. He has two teeth now and he is about to get the top two.

My mom is wonderful to us, always taking care of the boys and you can tell she truly loves it. She is great with them though at times it's tough and I think it won't be long before it's too much for her by herself. She does let them drink from a straw and sings to them and makes them laugh, it is love for sure.

Andy gets up in the early morning and always puts them to sleep at night. I work from 4pm to 12am so i get the day with them and it's wonderful but i always feel it's harder and harder to go to work. If I had it all my way I would stay at home with my babies and it would be awesome! Sometimes I wake up and come down stairs to find them just a little bit bigger than I last remembered. I know it won't be long until they really are walking and talking and I fear i might miss it! Life is definitely about them and I love it.
